- Water-Walking -- A moderate to high impact and intensity exercise class designed to increase cardiovascular, muscle strength and stamina in shallow water. Why do people water-walk?
- Windows of Exercise -- An hour of individualized instruction with an optional outline of exercises.
- Pre-Natal/Post-Partum Classes -- Doctors used to discourage pregnant women from exerting themselves at all. Thankfully, we know now that moderate, low-impact exercise benefits most women with normal pregnancies by reducing stress, helping sleep and building endurance. Water exercise is an ideal way to stay in shape safely since the water supports 90 percent of the body weight, taking stress off joints and ligaments.
The Prenatal and Postpartum Water Exercise Class at the Swim Fitness Center is a soothing, low-impact way for pregnant women to stay fit. For women who have just had a baby, the class (and other Swim Fitness Center activities) jump starts the drive to get back in shape at the right pace.
Expectant mothers are cautioned that they must consult their obstetrician before beginning or continuing any exercise program.
- Arthritis Classes -- Our Arthritis Class consists of 68-degree range-of-motion and muscle strenghtening exercises plus optional endurance building activities. All exercises are designed to be within the capabilities of most people with arthritis. Swimming ability is not necessary to participate in this program. Pool temperatures range from 88 - 93 degrees.
- Cardio Classes -- Enjoy a cardio workout in the warm water of the Swim Fitness Center pool. This class focuses on maintaining and improving cardiovascular health while improving balance and muscular strength. The Beginner class provides a milder workout but will spend more time focusing on technique. The Intermediate class is designed for participants who have previously participated in water aerobics. It gives a more intense workout and spends less time on technique.
- Aqua Fitness -- This class involves a mixture of cardiovascular and toning exercises. In this class you can enjoy the same level of cardiovascular workout you get on land without the strain on your joints. Swimmers and non-swimmers welcome.
- Aquatic Personal Training -- An individualized exercise program, offered by appointment only.
